Our Mission

Since 1983, Sun Glow Window Covering Products of Canada Ltd. has specialized in the development, production, installation, servicing and distribution of custom window treatments. We are a Canadian manufacturer committed to superior workmanship and technical expertise. We source and distribute quality components and materials from leading global suppliers.

Sun Glow’s success is based on extraordinary personalized service provided by our experienced, dedicated staff. We partner with our dealer network and consult directly with architectural and construction professionals to create aesthetically-pleasing and functional solutions for all window treatment applications.

Our Story

1963

Our Founder

Kostas Kanargelidis an entrepreneur from Greece immigrated to Toronto. At the time, ESL classes were provided on the condition immigrants learned a trade. Kostas learned carpet installation. After working as an installer for a couple of years, he opened his own retail business. Clients generally would require drapery as well when they were ordering carpeting. As Kostas wife, Mahi was a seamstress, they began to provide both custom drapery and carpeting.

1980

How It All Began

Soon they opened Coskanar Carpet Ltd. on the Danforth, a retail outlet and expended to selling wallpaper as well and vinyl roller shades.

1983

The Start of Something Great

They opened an additional location across the street to house the carpeting. Soon the carpeting was replaced by the manufacturing of hard window coverings and the beginning of Sun Glow.

1987

Innovation From the Start

Sun Glow launches the SG 1000 and the Sun Glow 5000 Mechanical Vertical Blind Cutting Systems. Although Sun Glow no longer manufactures vertical blinds, many of those who purchased the machine continue to use it.

1995

A Powerful Partnership

A key partnership is forged with growing American textile company, Phifer. Sun Glow is the first company to manufacture with and distribute Phifer Sheerweave fabrics in Canada, ultimately cementing Phifer as an industry standard in homes, offices, and institutions across the nation.

2005

Our Current Location

50 Hollinger houses both the offices and manufacturing facilities and showroom. Sun Glow later occupies the entire building and expands both production and office space in 2010.

2006

A New Direction

Kostas passed way in Feb 2006, 18 months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Kostas daughter Vivian Kanargelidis prepares Sun Glow for expansion and diversification.

2007

Window Fashion

Sun Glow releases their own fabric collection and begins the process of sourcing and importing exclusive textile offerings. The fabric collection will be updated and repackaged to include on-trend fabrics in 2010, 2013, and 2016.

2008

Artisan Collection Unveiled at IDS08

Sun Glow exhibited for the first time at the Interior Design Show in Toronto to introduce the Artisan Collection

2009

Entering New Markets

Sun Glow diversifies by extending into the contract shading market. CAD designers and architectural specialists are brought on board in order to ready the company for this new direction.

2010

Updated Fabrics

Sun Glow’s own line of sunscreen fabrics is introduced in our 2010 fabric collection. Since their release our CS and DX fabrics have remained a consistently popular choice amongst our clients.

Awards at IIDEX

Sun Glow exhibited for the first time at IIDEX and both products were awarded in their category, Pure Screen, a fabric that cleans the air won Silver in the Textiles category; and MAX, a system for creating large blinds with a small 4” cassette for interior or exterior use won gold in the Innovative Products category.

2011

Greenbuild 2011

At Greenbuild 2011 Sun Glow introduced 3 new PVC free Trevira CS fabrics and our ever popular EZ900 opaque option.

2012

A Cut Above

Acquired an XY cutting table, the first one of its kind in North America. Using crush cut or ultrasonic cutting, it increases efficiency and output. The cutting table enabled us to offer Short Cuts to other fabricators, cut custom panels ready for assembly.

2012

Innovation On Demand

Introduction of the Safety Shade, first developed for CAMH’s facility on Queen Street. The CAMH Project was the largest undertaking by Sun Glow at the time, but was quickly overtaken by several subsequent large scale projects.

2013

Swarovski Adds Some Glamour

Swarovski Elements is the premium brand for finest crystal elements manufactured by Swarovski. Sun Glow continues to offer these crystal accents for clients that desire uniquely elegant window furnishings.

2014

Travelling

With the “traveller” collection Sun Glow introduced our distinctive Illusions and Interlude systems alongside a massive selection of 80+ decorative fabrics.

2013

A New Vision

Sun Glow’s innovative drive produces yet another revolutionary development. The Vision Roller Shading System is a next-generation product that is feature-rich, simple to implement, and incredibly flexible.

2016

Our Best Fabric Collection Yet

Sun Glow's current fabric collection benefits from years of industry and decor experience. Long standing fabric brands like the SG CS and DX series are bolstered with exciting new additions such as Apex and Summit. The on-trend deocrative fabric collection is more versatile than ever.

2018

Working with E-Commerce

We started partnerships with several e-commerce sites and businesses.

2018

35 Years of Excellence

Sun Glow celebrated it's 35th anniversary with a renovated showroom, and by reinvesting in the development of our staff and products.

2019

SG Online Ordering Launches

Our in-house development team created Sun Glow's first online ordering system for our dealer network.

2020

All New Roller Shade Line

Sun Glow updated our roller shade line with all new cassettes, fascias, hems, and operating systems like the Zero Gravity floating roller shade system
